Established over 40 years ago, the company provides products, solutions and support services to a wide range of customers, across most industry sectors, working on systems of all sizes and complexities.

The Role

Role Description

Due to continued success and growth, we have a full-time role for a Technical Sales Engineer based out of our Belfast offices. As a Technical Sales Engineer you will work with the Sales team / Admin support staff to make sure all sales enquires for the “Industrial Safety Products” are being correctly identified, specified, quoted, chased and processed. The technical sales engineer will be expected to balance the in / out of office time to ensure current customer satisfaction alongside prospecting for new work.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to retain and expand the company's business relationships. In order to succeed in this position the candidate must have a solid technical understanding of the company and its products compiled with sociable and outgoing personality to build rapport with potential clients. As this is a technical postion candidates must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of electrical / mechanical systems with a proven track record in technical sales.

Key Tasks

1) Maintain and develop existing customer relationships and current profitability in section.

2) Respond to customer enquiries, provide quotations, and follow up, using company’s CRM and email systems to manage these.

3) Provide technical support “help desk” facility on products.

4) Seek and establish new customers to increase section turnover.

5) Initiated appropriate marketing activities for section products and services.

6) Reach and maintain competent levels of knowledge on product range via OEM training, E resources, peer learning and self-learning.

7) Ensure company systems and procedures are adhered to.

All this must be balanced with making sure that the department is maximising its profits and

commercial sustainability. Pro­actively promote the company and its activities with both existing and prospective customers by developing customer relationships. Help maintain and monitor the companies a database of all contacts and enquiries. OEM and in-house training is provided to complete any skill gaps.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Excellent technical sales skills with a strong understanding of product solutions

  • Experience in technical support and customer communication

  • Sales engineering experience

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Higher level qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field or demonstration with extensive previous experience will be considered.

Experience

• Proven track record of sales growth performance within automation and control products, or machine safety.

• Proven negotiation skills and the ability to consistently close profitable deals.

• Excellent presentation and communication skills.

• Confident in presenting pitches to key customers for product development and new products.

• Natural commercial mindset with exceptional great communication, emotional

intelligence, and strong sales skills.

• Strategic thinker, effective at using data, logic and instincts to identify problems and execute solutions at scale.

• Must be Fluent in English

• Must be able to work in environments that require PPE.

• Must be PC literate with experience of MS Office.

• Full Driving Licence.

Relevant skills and qualifications such as experience with brands similar to those represented by Ashdale Engineering Ltd would be beneficial.
